Filter Coffee - The Importance Of The Coffee Filter

An used Coffee filter

We all know that each coffee maker is going to be unique in the type of coffee filter that it uses. Filter coffee is one of the most common type of coffee that is prepared in todays society. Many people fail to realize that the coffee filter they use will make a difference on how their coffee will taste.

The most commonly used filters are the standard paper filters. It seems that most people prefer the paper filters because they are easy to use and makes cleaning up easy. You should never try to make coffee in an automatic drip coffee maker or in a percolator without using a filter; otherwise you will get to drink coffee beans in your favorite beverage.

When choosing a coffee filter for your maker; then you want to ensure that the one that you use is big enough to fit the equipment. Paper filters come in many different sizes and not all of them are one size fits all.

The major reason you want to ensure that you get the right size of filter; if you happen to get one that is too small or large for your equipment then you will notice that the coffee grounds will end up in your pot of coffee.

I prefer to use the cloth filters. Many people have no idea that you can get cloth filters or they do not like to use them because they do require more clean up than the typical paper filters. However in my personal opinion I have noticed that the paper ones will leave a little papery taste to my drink. With the cloth filters they leave no after taste to my drink. You will want to find the right size of cloth filters such as if you were getting paper filters.

Be prepared to pay a little bit more than the typical paper filters; however you will be surprised at how much better your coffee tastes. Not too mention how much more environmentally friendly it is without having to throw away the filter after each and every use.
